I love little projects, they are so much fun. I designed this The Lace Knittery pattern to echo the cables motif from The Penryn Poncho pattern. This was inspired by the celtic crosses in the magical county of Cornwall. It can be knitted in any weight yarn from sock to aran.
Yarn in the photo is a hand painted DK weight yarn from The Lace Knittery. One skein at least 100m only required.
The Lace Knittery loves a poncho and being based in the West Country with relatives in Cornwall I am endlessly inspired. This pattern has cable work inspired by the stonework and Celtic crosses in this part of that wonderful county.
It is asymmetrical in shape and can be worn in any direction or left unsewn as a wrap.
It is knitted in DK weight yarn. The yarn in the photo is a natural colour baby alpaca, silk and cashmere and is available from The Lace Knittery. Three skeins are required.
At The Lace Knittery we love wraps, they are versatile, light, portable and useful. Knitting them is fun as there is no gauge and as with all The Lace Knittery wrap and scarf patterns we design them to be interchangeable on yarns used.
This wrap was inspired by one of my favourite times of year… September, back to school, new exercise books, falling leaves and crisp mornings and patchwork quilts. It has a school house motif in the centre with a trellis border at either side.
It requires 800m of lace weight yarn and 4mm needles. It can be knitted in different weight yarns and up to DK weight use the same size needles.
The Lace Knittery Scrumper Scarf is inspired by my favourite blackberrying spot. This little scarf is triangular in shape and is perfect for keeping you warm when rambling. It is knitted side to side and has a cable pattern along each edge. It is a perfect first project for someone looking to try cables but is nice for a quick make for a more experienced knitter.
It is knitted in Rowan Felted Tweed and requires one ball.
I designed The Lace Knittery Tassel Hat pattern many years ago and it has grown with my family. It is sized from child to adult. It is knitted in the round and you can finish with two, three or four tassels or pompoms. It makes your head bounce and puts a smile on your face when you wear it. It can be knitted in any weight yarn. The pattern is for DK to aran weight and uses 200m.
The yarn in the photo is a lace weight baby alpaca and is available from The Lace Knittery.
I know we are called The Lace Knittery but we do like crochet too! This pattern I designed to be used in any weight yarn. It twirls by itself and all the finishing that is required is a weaving in of ends.
It can be any length and is a good stash buster. The yarn in the photo is a DK weight natural baby alpaca, silk and cashmere yarn available from The Lace Knittery.
At The Lace Knittery we like fun designs that do the work for you. The Lace Knittery Twirly Scarf pattern uses a short row technique and the pattern does all the work. The only finishing the design requires is weaving in of ends.
It is designed for any weight yarn. It can be knitted in any length and the pattern has three possible patterns.
The Lace Knittery Twirly Shawl pattern is great for any weight yarn and is a great beginner pattern but fun for experienced knitters also. It uses a short row technique and simple stitches. I have signed the pattern to do all the work for you. It is triangular and takes 800m of lace weight yarn. It is interchangeable on yarn weight up to DK.
The Lace Knittery Twist It Cowl is one of my newer design. I got twisty on the brain but wanted to design something, as ever, that is adaptable and interchangeable on yarn weights. It is knitted in the round and can be made as deep or shallow as you need. It can be knitted in DK to aran weight yarn and requires 120m.
I took my fascination with twisty patterns everywhere including The Lace Knittery Twist It Socks. This pattern is multi size from women’s small to men’s large. It is worked in the round from the top with grafted toes at the bottom. The twist pattern can be all one way, facing each other or away. The possibility of using different colours is endless.
A complete knitting kit of one of The Lace Knittery’s most popular designs. It is a rectangular wrap with a central peacock feather motif. The kit contains yarn of your choice full instructions, a pattern with both written and charted instructions, a pair of custom made, beaded bamboo knitting needles and a roomy project bag. It is presented in a glossy card gift bag.

At The Lace Knittery I get asked a lot of questions (please carry on!) and one of the most popular is ‘I am a new knitter and want to try a project which one would you recommend”. I came up with this pattern as the answer. It is a pattern that suits a beginner but is also a quick make for the more experienced. It has several lengths and ways of finishing. Is knitted straight and joined at the end…or not. Has one pattern row and can be knitted in ANY weight yarn. Raid your stash, buy new, swap or something you were gifted. You can knit this pattern. The instructions are for lace weight yarn and follow them for up to DK weight yarn. Above DK weight go up on the recommended needle size.
